The CDA is an alliance of professional UK Casting Directors dedicated to upholding professional standards within the industry.
Dear Production Companies and Advertising Agencies,
We, as the members of the CDA, are working hard towards getting Casting Directors credited for their work.
With that in mind, we ask that you please include us in your call sheets, social media posts and awards submissions.
We would love to be acknowledged for what we do and celebrate the success of the work we’re making together.
With thanks,
The CDA
To set up an alliance of professional casting directors based on a set of agreed objectives and priorities and to represent the majority views and opinions of these Casting Directors in an official capacity.
The CDA will seek to uphold professionalism in the casting field, promote the role of the casting director whilst supporting its members and protecting their common interests.
We promise to support equal employment opportunities regardless of race, religion, age, gender, sexual orientation, disability or national origin. Casting Directors and Casting Associates affiliated with the CDA are committed to maintaining the highest levels of professionalism and ethical responsibility.
The CDA will give a collective identity and sense of community among casting directors working independently across the country. It is a means of providing communication and support for everyone.
Interaction within the casting community means better information for everyone, which is the most indispensable tool of good casting.
Sharing information allows for an exchange of ideas, more knowledge, better and easier negotiations, and above all, better protection for all our members.
As casting directors we are in a unique position. We are in the forefront of ensuring that the talent in front of the camera accurately represents the society we live in.
The CDA proactively encourage our members to embrace diversity and call-out racism both in-front of and behind the camera. We also urge all sectors of the industry to look at their own workforce and see how representation can be improved.
We need to harness the current groundswell of action and make sure our industry embraces an ongoing, long-term change. The CDA are committed to continuing this discussion, to listening and learning. We can and we will improve diversity and representation.
